Indio Downey
Biography
Los Angeles, CA
Singer and Songwriter
Born in 1993 to actor Robert Downey Jr. and singer-songwriter Deborah Falconer, Indio grew up steeped in creativity. Introduced to guitar and vocals at age 12, he was soon learning classics like *”Stairway to Heaven”* and *”Smells Like Teen Spirit.”* By 15, he began writing and shaping his own musical voice. Music became his anchor through adolescence, a channel to process emotions and early challenges including addiction and recovery.
**Cigarettes in Bed EP**
In early 2024, Indio released his debut *Cigarettes in Bed* EP, a deeply personal five-track collection exploring love, addiction, and transformation. Sonically, it’s a raw yet melodic fusion of pop-punk and alt-rock, inspired by icons like Pixies, Nirvana, Weezer, the Sex Pistols, and Queens of the Stone Age. The EP resonates with gritty guitar riffs and honest lyricism, reflecting his journey from darkness (“Dume,” a metaphor for addiction and hardship tied to Malibu’s Point Dume) to healing and renewal (“The Other Side”).
**Live Performances**
Indio’s stage presence has been growing steadily. Notable performances include supporting alt-rock act **Dogstar** in December 2023 at Sacramento’s Crest Theatre, and headlining shows in Los Angeles at El Cid and Hollywood venues ([concertarchives.org][4]). His raw, energetic live shows reflect the EP’s emotional arc, and his favorite track to perform has proven to be the title song *“Cigarettes in Bed”*, bolstered by a soon-to-drop music video.
